Scholarship Program
Launched in 2023, program awards scholarships to Ventura County Latinas pursuing higher education.

Why Latinas?
While latinas have made tremendous strides in recent years, they are still significantly behind their white female counterparts in educational attainment. For starters, around 20% of latinas have bachelors degrees compared with 40% of white women. And only 8% have masters degrees. Even after college, Latinas face a considerable wage gap of earning only 52 cents of every dollar made by white men. This leaves latinas disproportionately having the lowest paid jobs in our nation. There are significant barriers Latinas face in regards to access to education, including a lack of mentorship and a lack of resources, especially financial support. (Data source: census.gov)​

Our College Scholarship Program seeks to close these inequality gaps​ by supporting Ventura County Latinas seeking higher education. Not only will the scholarship provide much needed funds towards their educational costs, but it is also a way to uplift and show the students that the greater community supports their journey.

The 2024 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION IS CLOSED.
We will review applications in May and alert the winner in June.
The 2025 online application will open in January 2025 on this page.

Chicas Adelante Scholarship Recipients
Our Chicas Adelante scholarship winners have demonstrated a very strong dedication to pursuing their goals in higher education, have made substantial impacts within their communities, and are fiercely proud of their Latino roots. Our scholars are pursuing various career paths and are involved in diverse community service opportunities.
